On July 10, Pacific Divers Scuba Club and Pacific Pro Dive volunteered their time and expertise to assess future debris cleanup locations in the bay. On August  30, staff and volunteers coordinated a shoreline cleanup in Double Bay, responding to plastic pollution accumulating along Hanson Island. Together, we removed 1,100  lbs of polystyrene, much  of it washed into the forest well above  the high tide line. This effort reflects what community-powered restoration looks like. In August  2024, Double Bay Sanctuary team members began water, sediment, and soil testing to establish a meaningful baseline for long-term stewardship. The analysis indicates environmental quality within acceptable parameters, with very low levels of contaminants.
